Past 2007~2008 Season
“The Sunshine Boys”
By Neil Simon
October 12-21, 2007
This comedy tells the story of two elderly vaudevillians, formerly partners known as "Lewis and Clark," who grew to hate each other over the years, and for their last year together never spoke to each other off-stage. When Clark's nephew tries to bring them together to perform their old act on television, they have to learn how to get
along with each other. The play derives much of its appeal from speculation about whether some
real-life comedy duos experienced similar problems.

Courtney and Elva lie in adjacent beds in a nursing home. Courtney, 16, has a severed spinal cord and her parents are dead; she is alone, full of anger and bitterness. Elva,88, is sustained by memories of poetry, art, literature, and love. Elva entreats the young girl to pass the time by joining her on an imaginary trip to Italy. Courtney agrees, and
they begin by arriving on a steamship in the Bay of Naples in 1910. Courtney is resistant, but gradually,
in a bittersweet ending, Courtney succumbs to the liberating joys of letting the mind run free.
“An Enemy of the People”
An Adaptation by Arthur Miller
of the Play by Henrik Ibsen
April 4-13, 2008
An Enemy of the Peopleconcerns the actions of Doctor Thomas Stockmann, a medical officer charged with
inspecting the public baths on which the prosperity of his native town depends. He finds the water to be
contaminated. When he refuses to be silenced, he is declared an enemy of the people. Stockmann
served as a spokesman for the original author, Henrik Ibsen, who felt that his plays gave a true, if not
always palatable, picture of life and that truth was more important than critical approval.
